Tobias Ecker

Team leader Aerothermodynamics and Propulsion Technology

Tobias Ecker is a team leader in Aerothermodynamics and Propulsion Technology at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), where they focus on aerodynamics and fluid mechanics of rocket-powered vehicles using numerical simulations. Their research encompasses solid rocket propulsion, rocket plume modeling, and the aerothermodynamics of launch vehicles, particularly during retro-propulsion. Previously, Tobias served as a post-doctoral researcher at DLR and gained significant experience as a graduate research assistant at Virginia Tech, where they explored turbulence statistics and conducted experimental investigations of supersonic jets. Tobias holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech, and a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Trier.
