Harshani Koswatta has a diverse work experience in the field of microbiology and research. Harshani started their career as a Microbiology Quality Trainee at Glaxo Smith Kline Pharmaceuticals in 2008.
Harshani then worked as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Kelaniya from November 2009 to September 2010. During this time, they conducted laboratory sessions for undergraduate students, examined and corrected lab reports, and managed lab resources.

Following that, they attended the Postgraduate Institute of Science at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, where they obtained a Master's Degree in Medical Microbiology from 2010 to 2012.
