Senior Scientist II at DNA Electronics

Thearith Ung has a diverse work experience spanning from 1999 to 2016. Thearith began their career as a Staff Scientist at Quantum Dot Corporation, where they focused on surface modification, process scale-up, and production of quantum dots for IVD applications. Thearith successfully developed a commercial process for purifying water dispersible protein-conjugated quantum dots.

Following this, they worked as a Home Mortgage Consultant at Wachovia, Village Bank, and Wells Fargo mortgage companies, from August 2005 to February 2008.

In May 2005, they became a Bi-Vocational Minister at Midlothian and Derbyshire Baptist Church, a role they held till April 2009.

Thearith then joined DNA Electronics (formerly nanoMR) in March 2010 as a Senior Scientist II. In this role, they were responsible for the timely delivery of quality antibody-conjugated magnetic beads for the development of a biomedical device for rapid detection of blood stream infection. Thearith optimized and scaled-up a process for manufacturing protein-conjugated magnetic beads and developed analytical methods for quality control. Thearith worked at DNA Electronics until July 2015.

Subsequently, they became an Honorary Scientist at Bio21 Institute, University of Melbourne, from September 2015 to May 2016.

Finally, they rejoined DNA Electronics in August 2016 as a Senior Scientist II.

Thearith Ung obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Physical Chemistry with a focus on Surface & Colloid Science and Nanoscience from the University of Melbourne. This degree was earned between the years 1996 and 1999. Additionally, Thearith Ung obtained a certification in Micro Business Operations from the Chisholm Institute in Berwick, VIC Australia in May 2016.
