Principal Engineer

Josh Backwell is a seasoned engineer specializing in renewable energy with over a decade of experience in various roles across multiple organizations. Starting as a Project Manager for PV systems at EnviroGroup, Josh progressed to positions such as Project Engineer at CAT Projects and Bushlight RE System Design Coordinator at The Centre for Appropriate Technology, where responsibilities included managing system design departments and developing standalone PV systems for remote communities. Further expertise was gained as a Principal Engineer and Project Officer at ATA Alternative Technology Association, focusing on solar training curriculum development. Josh also served as a Technical Advisor for Timor Aid, providing project management support for water and sanitation projects. With significant contributions as a Measurements Engineer at DNV GL and later as a Senior Measurements Engineer at DNV, Josh has extensive experience in providing engineering services for wind and solar industries throughout Australia, Asia, and the Pacific.
