Corporate drone by day, metallurgist by night; for many years Derek maintained a cover identity in Lead Developer, UX Architect, Engineering Manager roles at companies like Turner Broadcasting and Emirates.

They’ve been in software for0+ years doing everything from information/interaction design, web service/API architecture, developer tools and DX; to customer/stakeholder/user "interrogation", technical product management, and serving as a bridge between the technical and the creative. The tools they vibe on are Ruby, Javascript/Node, Python, "frontend", data, computers, English, guitars, caffeine, lots of bass.

Derek enjoys music, the absurd, w®dsmytheing, neuroqueering; and is proudly Autistic, multiply neurodivergent, nonbinary, and gendervague.
