Chris Duran

Chris Duran is the current Chief Technology Officer of Bioinformatics at Dotmatics. Prior to this, they were the Director of their own software development consultancy, Duran Consultancy, which provided software solutions focused on biotechnology domains and cross-disciplinary technical partnerships. Chris has also served as the Chief Operating Officer of Geneious, where they were responsible for technology, customer success, and administration operations.

Before their most recent positions, Chris worked as a Bioinformatics Research for Biomatters and as a Postdoctoral Researcher for ACPFG. Chris's research has focused on developing software solutions for next generation sequencing data and its future applications. In addition to their research experience, Chris has also worked as a Clinical Software Developer for the University of Melbourne and as a Director for dotZero.

Chris Duran obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Bioinformatics from The University of Queensland. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science and Evolutionary Biology also from The University of Queensland.
