José Achache

José Achache is a leader in space technologies and Earth observation, with work spanning risk intelligence and optical communication, currently serving as chairman of ASTROCAST, ILTOO PHARMA, Dotphoton, Media Lario S.r.l., and REOR20. Their past roles include Director of Earth Observation at the European Space Agency (2002–2004), Deputy Director General at Centre National d'Études Spatiales (1999–2001), and Executive Director of the Group on Earth Observations (2005–2012). They were a professor at Institut de physique du globe de Paris from 1989 to 2015, and held research and leadership positions at CNRS (Chargé de recherche, 1981–1989) and BRGM (Vice-President Research and Development, 1996–1998). They studied at Ecole normale supérieure from 1973 to 1978.
