Steve Papa

CTO at Dover Microsystems

Steve joined the Dover team as CTO in 2023. Steve’s career includes over 40 years in all levels of design and development of embedded computer systems in both DoD and commercial products. He will leverage his development, leadership skills and experience to continue to improve CoreGuard to enable DoD and commercial adaption of this technology to secure processor-based products against cyber-attacks.

Steve’s background includes security architecture, design, and implementation on multiple major DoD programs which represent multiple billions of dollars of development and production. This included programs at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics and at Raytheon Missiles and Defense where he was a technical fellow in both organizations. Prior to this he was a member of senior technical staff at Motorola Paging and Cellular systems developing telecommunications infrastructure, and at General Dynamics in systems, software, and test avionics engineering roles.

Steve’s education includes a BS in Electrical Engineering from The University of Florida “Go Gators”, a MSEE and a PhD in Computer Engineering at Southern Methodist University. Prior to attending engineering school Steve was in the U.S. Air Force as an avionics technician.

Outside of work Steve has been an adjunct professor at Southern Methodist University in the Computer Engineering Department. At SMU he also created and taught an embedded cyber security design class, and at Raytheon he took this class and created an embedded security systems engineering class for the engineering staff. Steve has also served on executive board of the Fort Worth Section of IEEE and is a senior member of IEEE.
