Joe Tanzer has over three decades of experience in the coatings and materials science industry. As a Principal Research Scientist at The Dow Chemical Company since April 2009, Joe leads a small R&D group focused on enhancing products for the Architectural Coatings business. Prior to this role, Joe served as a Distinguished Scientist at Rohm and Haas Research Laboratories from February 1985 to April 2009, where expertise in rheology modifiers and binders was developed while managing a coatings R&D group targeting new technologies for architectural paints. Joe earned a PhD in Materials Science Engineering (Polymers) from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science from Cornell University. Since retiring in September 2019, Joe continues to leverage a wealth of knowledge in the field.
