Jonathan Axtell is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in inorganic and organic chemistry. Currently serving as an Associate Research Scientist and previously as a Senior Research Specialist at Dow since January 2020, Axtell has a strong background in research developed during tenure at the University of California, Los Angeles, where contributions included novel host-guest systems and small molecule fluorophores as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Sletten Lab and expanding the chemistry of polyhedral boron clusters in the Spokoyny Lab. Axtell's doctoral work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology focused on synthesizing innovative molybdenum and tungsten-based olefin metathesis catalysts. Axtell also gained foundational research experience at Villanova University in the Zubris Group, developing zirconium-based olefin polymerization catalysts, and during summer research positions at MIT and James Madison University. Axtell holds a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Chemistry from Villanova University.
