Sam MacDonald has a diverse professional background with extensive experience in governance and finance. Since October 2016, Sam has served as a City Councillor with the Christchurch City Council, where responsibilities include the role of Chair of Finance and Performance and various leadership positions within the Waimairi Ward community board. In addition to these roles, Sam is currently an Independent Board Member for Te Rūnanga o Waihao and a Director at Christchurch City Holdings Ltd. Previously, Sam worked as a Financial Analyst at Downer and held positions such as President of The Canterbury Club and Trustee for Rātā Foundation. Sam's career also includes experience as a Chartered Accountant at BDO in New Zealand and a Contractor at Audit New Zealand.
