Tony Gannon has over 15 years of work experience in various roles within the energy and engineering industries. Tony is currently the Head of Development at Downing LLP since July 2021. Prior to that, they worked at ScottishPower as the Head of Project Management from February 2020 to July 2021. Tony also held multiple roles at ScottishPower Renewables, including Head of New Technology Delivery, Senior Project Manager, Project Manager, and Assistant Project Manager, with responsibilities in project development, construction management, and team leadership. Tony began their career as a Civil Engineer at Iberdrola Engineering and Construction, where they focused on the design and management of substations and associated infrastructure. Tony also gained experience as a Chartered Civil Engineer at Scott Wilson (now part of URS Corporation), where they worked on infrastructure and civil engineering projects, managed project resources, and provided engineering expertise.

Tony Gannon has a strong education background in engineering. Tony obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering from The University of Glasgow from 2000 to 2005. Tony then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Structural Engineering & Mechanics from the University of Glasgow / University of Edinburgh from 2005 to 2006.

In addition to their formal education, Tony Gannon has obtained several certifications in the field. Tony became a Chartered Engineer (CEng) from the Engineering Council in May 2010. Tony also became a member (MIStructE) of the Institution of Structural Engineers in September 2011 and a member (MICE) of the Institution of Civil Engineers in May 2010. Furthermore, they hold a NEBOSH General Certificate from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), which they obtained in November 2012.
