Ian Umstead

Ian Umstead, MS, CSP, CHST, is a safety professional with extensive experience in managing workplace safety. Ian served as a Safety Engineer at Traylor Bros., Inc. from June 2019 to August 2021, conducting safety audits, facilitating training, and managing safety inspections. In May 2024, Ian transitioned to a dual role as Safety Manager and Sr. Safety Specialist at DPR Construction, overseeing site safety for commercial projects valued between $60 million and $180 million while promoting company safety initiatives and conducting various training programs. Prior to these roles, Ian gained valuable experience as a Safety Intern with The Walsh Group and as a NIOSH Trainee at Murray State University, where responsibilities included managing industrial hygiene facilities and assisting with departmental projects. Education includes a Master of Science in Safety Management from Murray State University, completed in 2019.
