Sumera Hasham

Sumera Hasham, PhD, MBA, is the Vice President and Head of Innovation Portfolio at Dr. Reddy's Laboratories. They hold a BS in Genetics from Osmania University, an MS in Biotechnology from the University of Hyderabad, and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Texas Houston Medical School. With extensive collaboration across leading US healthcare institutions, Sumera’s research contributed to the identification of a defective gene linked to thoracic aneurysms, recognized as a top discovery by the American Heart Association in 2003. Upon returning to India, they established the Genomics & Proteomics department at Dr. Reddy's, leading to the development of several successful drug products and a significant portfolio focused on patient-centric experiences in high unmet need areas. Their career transitioned to the business of science through an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad, where they have since managed a portfolio worth approximately $50 million and driven innovation through cross-functional collaborations.
