Founded in 2001 by Paulo Lucas von Vacano, an Italian-German journalist and former president of Castelvecchi Publishing Company, DRAGO serves as a home for street photographers, graffiti artists, and urban visionaries from across the globe. Together with Domitilla Sartogo (Executive Director), and Nicola Scavalli (Art Director), DRAGO’s mission is to uncover the heartbeat of urban culture, transcending the avant-garde. Under Paulo von Vacano's leadership, DRAGO has gained acclaim for championing artists considered 'mainstream of minorities,' propelling them into the contemporary art scene.
To date, DRAGO has published over 200 books and curated numerous exhibitions, featuring luminaries like Futura, Shepard Fairey, Ed Templeton, Estevan Oriol, and more. They collaborate with prestigious galleries and museums worldwide, including The French Academy in Rome, the Venice Art Biennale, MAMCO Museum of Contemporary Art in Geneva, and Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Renowned curators like Nicolas Bourriaud and Magda Danysz have been part of their projects.
