Alan Vail

Alan Vail serves as the Deputy General Counsel and Assistant Secretary at Draper since March 2018, providing expertise in government contracting, negotiations, and intellectual property. Prior to this role, Alan was a solo practitioner at Vail Law, advising clients on SaaS agreements and regulatory compliance from 2015 to 2018. Alan's experience includes serving as Deputy General Counsel at Vecna Robotics, where responsibilities encompassed drafting various commercial agreements and overseeing security audits. Earlier positions include Associate General Counsel at Sklute & Associates and legal internships with the US Court of Federal Claims, American University Washington College of Law, and the Federal Aviation Administration. Alan holds a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law, an MBA, and a BS in Accounting from Utah State University.
