Daniel Marshall is an experienced Sr Optical Development Engineer at Draper, starting in November 2022. Previously, Daniel co-founded Varda Space Industries and served as Chief Scientist from November 2020 to June 2022. At Physical Optics Corporation, from July 2016 to November 2020, Daniel led the $5M Fiber Optic Production project focused on manufacturing ZBLAN optical fiber in space, including the integration of production modules on the International Space Station. Additional experiences include roles as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC San Diego, where Daniel modeled astrophysical objects, and as a Teaching Assistant for introductory physics labs. Earlier work includes significant contributions to projects in experimental particle physics at Penn State, along with tutoring in mathematics and physics during undergraduate studies. Daniel holds an MS in Physics with a focus on Astrophysics from UC San Diego and dual BS degrees in Mathematics and Physics from Penn State University.
