Mark Smith

Mark Smith is a highly experienced technology leader with a strong background in core infrastructure and reliability engineering. Currently serving as VP of Core Technology at Discord since November 2017, Mark leads a team of over 100 engineers focused on Trust, Infrastructure, and Platforms. Prior roles include Head of Infrastructure at Discord and Co-Founder of Dreamwidth Studios, an open-source project. Previous positions at Dropbox, Bump Technologies, StumbleUpon, Google, Mozilla, CCP Games, Six Apart, and Danga Interactive showcase a commitment to scalability, performance, and diverse engineering cultures. Mark holds experience in technical systems, operations management, and fostering organizational culture, combined with a solid educational foundation from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
