John Carl

John Carl has a diverse work experience, starting with their most recent role as an Adjunct Professor at the U.S. Naval War College, where they led a seminar on Theater Security and Decision Making. Prior to this, they worked as a T6-A Instructor at Delaware Resource Group and as a Certified Flight Instructor at Cubic World Wide Technical Services. John also served as a Pilot Instructor at CAE until 2020.

Before transitioning into the academic field, John Carl had a distinguished career in the United States Marine Corps. John held various positions, including Commanding Officer and Professor of Naval Science at the University of Southern California and University of California Los Angeles, where they mentored and educated commissioned officers. John also served as an Officer of Marines for nearly three decades.

John Carl's experience is not limited to the military. John also worked as a Winter Season Mountain Operations Associate at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and as a Transitioning Marine at JHMR. Additionally, they served as a Senior Marine Corps advisor at the Naval Education Training Command, overseeing the production and training of Marine Corps Officers.

In their earlier career, John Carl worked as Deputy Chair at the Air War College, where they directed curriculum development and educational programs on joint doctrine and planning. John also served as the Headquarters Squadron Commanding Officer at MCAS Camp Pendleton.

John Carl attended Canterbury School from 1978 to 1981. John then went on to Union College, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science from 1981 to 1985. Later, they pursued further education at the University of West Florida, completing a Master's in Public Administration (MPA) from 1993 to 1995.
