Michael Powell is a co-founder of Drift Coffee & Kitchen, established in January 2014, which offers a premium coffee and food experience inspired by global café culture and surfing travels. Prior to this venture, Michael competed as an athlete in the World Qualifying Series from January 2011 to January 2014, primarily sponsored by Reef, which was under VF Corporation at that time.

Drift is a local, independent cafe serving premium coffee and brunch, built by people who love good coffee and food. Our team has been inspired by cafes all over the world. Founders Michael and Ben Powell grew up surfing competitively and traveling the world. Throughout these surfing adventures, a desire for coffee formed. We serve things that we enjoy consuming - items that are minimally processed, nutritious, fun and flavorful. Some of which have attachment to traditions of diverse cultures.
