Chess Stetson has a diverse work experience. Starting in 2001, they worked as an Assistant Staff at MIT Lincoln Laboratory until 2003. From 2009 to 2012, Chess was a Fellow at the Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience. They then moved on to the California Institute of Technology, where they served as a Postdoc from 2012 to 2014. In 2014, Chess became a Co-founder of dRISK (aka 42 Interactive, aka Helynx), where they focused on building the product and serving customers until 2019. Finally, Chess Stetson currently holds the position of CEO at dRISK, starting in January 2019.

Chess Stetson has a strong educational background in the fields of Computation and Neural Systems, Neurobiology, and Physics. Chess obtained a Ph.D. in Computation and Neural Systems from Caltech, graduating in 2011. Prior to that, Chess earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Neurobiology from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) between 2004 and 2006. On the undergraduate level, Chess pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Physics from Harvard University, completing the program from 1997 to 2001. Additionally, there is mention of Chess having some involvement with Baylor College of Medicine, although no specific information regarding degree or field of study is provided for this institution.
