Nigel Naipaul started their work experience in 2013 as an MW&S Bridge and Building Intern at Norfolk Southern. In 2014, they joined Norfolk Southern Corporation as a Bridges & Structures MT, where they surveyed, planned, and installed various structures between three NS Divisions. Nigel was later promoted to Bridges and Structures Supervisor, where they directed, planned, recommended, coordinated, and supervised the construction and maintenance of bridges, tunnels, culverts, and buildings in Virginia, Georgia, and Central Divisions. During their tenure, they successfully reduced operating costs and lead times by 30% in the Georgia Division Territory. In 2016, Nigel joined Neel-Schaffer, Inc. as a Project Engineer and worked until 2019. Currently, they are working as a Structures Engineer at DRMP, Inc.
Nigel Naipaul obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering & Architectural Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, from 2010 to 2014. Nigel also holds additional certifications, including eRail Safe from the Federal Railroad Administration, Federal Railroad Administration Certification from Norfolk Southern Corporation, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from North Carolina A&T State University, and RWP from the Federal Railroad Administration.
