Philip Lorenzo

Philip Lorenzo has extensive work experience in the technology and construction industries. Philip currently holds the position of Director of Engineering - AI powered industry intelligence at DroneDeploy. Prior to this, they co-founded and served as the Chief Data Officer at StructionSite Inc., which was later acquired by DroneDeploy. In this role, they focused on redefining collaboration on construction projects using reality capture data. Philip also developed industry standards on reality capture.

Before StructionSite Inc., Philip co-founded Rithm, where they served as the Head of Software Development. Philip developed laser scanning software apps for the AEC industry and provided training and consulting on best-practice 3D Laser Scanning. Additionally, they were an early contributor in the Product team at BIManywhere, which was acquired by Procore. Here, they helped field personnel access BIM on mobile devices and assisted with early product development/management and market penetration.

Earlier in their career, Philip worked as a Project Engineer - Virtual Design and Construction at McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. Philip was involved in implementing 3D laser scanning/surveying, BIM coordination, and change management. Philip also created a plugin for Navisworks that streamlined the clash detection process and developed scripts for the analysis of 3D point cloud data.

Philip's work experience also includes roles as a Construction Engineering Trainee at Alameda County Public Works Agency, where they served as an Assistant Inspector/Coordinator for a road improvement project, and as a Web Developer for their own business.

Their earliest work experience was as a Steel Detailing Apprentice at Active Engineering, where they produced high-quality shop fabrication drawings and assisted with project scheduling and status reports.

Philip Lorenzo obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2011. Philip also holds additional certifications, including LEED Green Associate from the U.S. Green Building Council and Engineering-in-Training from the California Board For Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
