Peter Ning

Flight Operations Director at DroneHive

Peter Ning has a long and varied work history. Peter began their career in 1986 as a Staff Research Engineer at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1988, they became a Senior Consulting Engineer at the Dobelle Institute / Avery Laboratories, Inc., where they designed a wearable mobility aid prototype for the blind. In 1990, they joined Keo Consultants as a Senior Research Engineer, providing technical services to the Air Force Geophysics Directorate. In 1992, they became an Electrical Engineer at iRobot (formerly IS Robotics, Inc.). In 1998, they joined Scion Associates, Inc. as a Senior Associate and Partner, where they were the Principal Investigator and Co-P.I. of DoD research programs. In 2005, they founded Ning Research, where they built custom hexacopters and provided general consulting and design services. In 2016, they became an FAA Part 107 Certified Remote Pilot. In 2017, they became an Independent Consultant and Advisor at NavTrac (formerly Aptonomy, Inc.), providing sUAV operation recommendations, flight testing support, and FAA regulatory/airspace consultation. In 2019, they became the Flight Operations Director at DroneHive, Inc., coordinating flight ops with pilots and customers and leading pilot and solutions advisor for high profile clients. In 2020, they became a Patent Examiner at the USPTO.

Peter Ning obtained their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and their High School Diploma from The Bronx High School of Science. Peter also holds certifications from the City of Sunnyvale - Office of Emergency Services, California Department of Justice, Federal Communications Commission, PADI, Federal Aviation Administration, and Federal Aviation Administration.
