Gurkan Sin

Gurkan Sin is a Professor at DTU Chemical Engineering, where contributions focus on optimization under uncertainty, machine learning, global sensitivity analysis, and process systems engineering applied to life sciences such as water, biotechnology, and biopharmaceuticals. With extensive experience in process modeling, simulation, and design, Gurkan's research emphasizes the development of systematic methods for the understanding, operation, and safety of biochemical processes. Prior to joining DTU in 2007, Gurkan served as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor, conducting research at Ghent University and contributing to engineering systems in water science and technology. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Environmental Technology and postdoctoral research in Chemical Engineering from prestigious institutions, alongside earlier degrees in Engineering from Middle East Technical University.
