Joel Shapiro

Founder & Co-CEO at Dumpling

Joel Shapiro is the founder and co-CEO of Dumpling. Joel previously worked as the marketing director for National Instruments from September 2002 to June 2016. In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of marketing, including Marcom, technical field marketing, and marketing operations. Joel also led a 50+ person marketing organization with an annual budget of over $5M USD across NI’s Emerging Market’s region, covering India, South East Asia, Russia, the Middle East, Oceania and Africa.

During their time at National Instruments, Shapiro developed strong leaders throughout the region who were able to effectively balance local needs and opportunities with the overall company objectives and long-term strategy. Joel also led the transformation of regional marketing from distributed, country level teams to a single, regional marketing organization. Through their efforts, they ensured effective change management at the individual level, resulting in retention and engagement of all leadership and key talent throughout this significant organizational change.

Joel Shapiro has a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and an MBA from the Texas McCombs School of Business.
