Jonathon Kuo has a diverse work experience in software engineering and research. Jonathon is currently working at Duolingo as a Senior Software Engineer, where they started in March 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Duolingo as a Software Engineer II from September 2021 to March 2023, and as a Software Engineer I from July 2020 to September 2021.
Before joining Duolingo, Jonathon worked as a Software Engineering Intern at both Duolingo in 2019 and Codomo Pte Ltd in 2018. In addition to their software engineering roles, they have also gained research experience at Duke University. Jonathon served as a Head Undergraduate Teaching Assistant from December 2016 to May 2020, leading and managing a team of undergraduate teaching assistants for Computer Science 101. Jonathon also conducted research as an Undergraduate Researcher in Chemistry, focusing on computational projects and collaborating on a research paper, from August 2018 to December 2019. Jonathon's earlier research experience includes being an Independent Researcher in Chemistry at Duke University from June 2015 to May 2016, where they conducted an independent project on ethanol fuel cells and studied different electrocatalysts. Additionally, they contributed to computer science education research and led workshops on programming as part of the Duke Alice Project in June and August 2017.
Jonathon Kuo began their education at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in 2014, where they completed their high school education. From 2016 to 2020, Jonathon attended Duke University, where they pursued a double major in Computer Science and Chemistry and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree.
