Peter Chapman

Peter Chapman has a comprehensive work experience spanning various roles and companies. 🎢 Peter started their career in 2007 as a Scientific Computing Intern at Howard Hughes Medical Institute. In 2008, they worked as a Sales Associate at Sears, Roebuck and Co., and later as a Student Consultant at University of Virginia ITC.

In 2011, Peter had an internship at Microsoft, where they worked within the Windows Azure System Monitoring and Diagnostics group and developed a personalized search suggestion engine. 🎢 Peter then joined University of Virginia as an Undergraduate Researcher in 2009 and worked until 2012.

From 2012 to 2014, Peter worked as an Assistant Instructor at Udacity, Inc., collaborating with professors to create course content and supporting students. In 2013, they also served as an Independent Contractor at ForAllSecure, Inc.

Peter pursued their PhD at Carnegie Mellon University starting from 2012 and worked as a Graduate Researcher until 2016.

In 2015, they completed an internship at Microsoft as an MSR Intern, where they developed a suite of PowerShell Cmdlets and collaborated with a product team in Microsoft Azure.

Prior to their current role, Peter worked at Duolingo, where they started as a Software Engineer in 2016 and progressed to become a Senior Software Engineer in 2017 and a Senior Engineering Manager in 2019. Currently, they hoholdhe position of Engineering Director, leading the engineering efforts of Duolingo's Product Quality area.

Peter Chapman attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology from 2004 to 2008. After graduating from high school, they enrolled at the University of Virginia, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from 2008 to 2012. Following their undergraduate studies, Peter Chapman pursued a Master's Degree in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University from 2012 to 2015.
