Tyler Murphy began their career as a Product Designer at Duolingo in 2012. Tyler played a vital role in designing the original iOS and Android apps, as well as the Incubator platform for creating new language courses. Tyler worked on several other projects during their time at the company. In 2016, they were promoted to the position of Chief Product Designer. Prior to their role at Duolingo, Tyler worked as a Product Designer for two years at a self-employed capacity.

Tyler Murphy's education history begins in 2007, when they enrolled at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. During their time there from 2007 to 2008, they studied Music Theory. Tyler then transferred to the University of Connecticut, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. Tyler attended the University of Connecticut from 2008 to 2011. After completing their undergraduate studies, they continued their education at the same institution and obtained a Master of Arts degree in Education from 2011 to 2012. Overall, Tyler Murphy has a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and a Master's degree in Education from the University of Connecticut, with a brief study in Music Theory at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
