Steve Helmer

Steven Helmer is currently the Chief Patent Counsel at DURECT Corporation, where Steven has been working since 2010. Prior to this role, Steven held positions at various companies including Life Technologies, Nektar Therapeutics, Fleshner & Kim, Finnegan Henderson, and Greenblum & Bernstein. Steven began their career as an Examiner at the United States Patent & Trademark Office before pursuing further education. Steven holds a JD in Law from the University of Minnesota Law School, an MS in Biotechnology from The Johns Hopkins University, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University.
