Musen Lin has a diverse work experience in the field of data visualization and design. Musen started their career as a Research Intern at Nokia in 2012. Later, they worked as a UI/UX Designer at Adornus Cabinetry, where they developed brand identity and created websites and streamlined interfaces for the company's sub-brand. In 2015, Musen joined Gro Intelligence as a Product Designer, where they focused on building a web-based data visualization tool for agriculture. Musen was responsible for designing the tool through UX flows, wireframes, and animated mockups. Additionally, they worked on creating the Gro Basemap from scratch using Tilemill. Most recently, Musen worked at dv01 as a Data Visualization Designer, where they designed and built map visualizations from scratch and created meaningful and intuitive data visualizations in the products. Musen was promoted to the role of Senior Data Visualization Designer in June 2021.

Musen Lin received a Bachelor of Arts degree in industrial design from Tsinghua University between 2006 and 2010. Following this, from 2011 to 2013, Musen pursued a Master of Fine Arts degree in Design and Technology at Parsons School of Design - The New School.
