D.K. Smith has a long and varied career in business strategy and marketing. Starting in 1981, they worked in Consumer Packaged Goods Brand Management for the Gillette Company and Playtex Products. In 1985, they founded Corporate Photography of New England Inc., which was acquired in 1995. After that, they founded Atlanta Commercial Photography Inc., which was acquired in 1998. In 1998, they became Director of Academic Technology at Brooklyn Friends School. In 2000, they founded GetCustomers.com and Electricskyline Ventures LLC, where they served as Interim Chief Marketing Officer. In 2008, they co-founded Dotcom Diligence and served as COO. In 2013, they became Managing Director & CSO at Brooklyn Innovation Inc. and in 2017 they became Director of Education at Brooklyn Angels and Co-Founder & Chief Marketing Officer at dxDigital.
D.K. Smith received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Pratt Institute, a Certificate in Multimedia Technology from New York University, and an Advanced Regents Diploma from Brooklyn Technical High School.
