Daniel Smith

Daniel Smith is a Principal Motor Drives Engineer and Operations Manager for Dyson's Future Power Systems Lab. With extensive experience as an electrical machine designer, they have specialized in high-performance machines, focusing on the coupled Mechanical-Electromagnetic-Thermal design domains. Daniel has led research teams in developing efficient power conversion technologies for consumer goods and has previously designed class-leading electrical machines for the aerospace sector. They hold a Ph.D. in High Speed High Power Machines from Newcastle University and a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Oxford.
