Phoenix Changkachith is an outstanding student with a passion for programming, problem-solving, and chess. He has experience in programming languages such as Java, HTML, CSS, and JS. Phoenix is a competitive and casual chess player who has analyzed, learned, and taught others from his mistakes in local and international communities, and he has achieved a top 100 ranking in his age group.
Phoenix has worked as a Software Engineer Intern where he learned how a startup company develops software using the Scrum framework. He also published an online CV site to a web server using Tomcat and Spring MVC during his internship.
Phoenix completed his high school education at Troy High School in Fullerton, CA. He graduated in 2021 with a Weighted GPA of 4.83 and a Non-Weighted GPA of 3.83. He took various honors coursework such as Cyber Security Fund Honors and several Advanced Placement courses, including Calculus BC, Physics B, Macroeconomics, American Government, and English Language. He also completed the International Baccalaureate Program in Computer Science HL 2.
Phoenix has received several awards, including the AP Scholar Award, the Chess Monster Trophy for being the best in the community, consecutive first-place trophies locally, and second place in the U.S. Open.
In his free time, Phoenix enjoys Korean BBQ and seafood. He also likes to go to escape rooms, which he finds a lot of fun. He is most passionate about optimization, including computing and silly optimizations, such as mapping out the fastest routes to his classes that cross a Chipotle or a Jamba Juice in preparation for when that information will be useful.
