We believe children and parents are happier, healthier, and more deeply connected when they spend their time engaging with each other and the world around them - not with screens.

But we also understand the data: screen exposure among children 5 and under is growing at an alarming rate. Most children begin watching television around 4 months of age and average an hour per day by 6 months - long before their brains can make meaning of the content they are in front of. 

Early Years Media is a nonprofit public media program of the Children’s Media Research and Reform Lab (CMRRL), delivering ad-free, developmentally designed content specifically built to strengthen the parent–child
connection during the most critical years of brain development for children 5 and under.

We believe families should have free access to screen time literacy, developmentally designed programming, and watch and play co-viewing and co-learning tools and resources to help them transition away from the screen. 

Each program is reviewed and approved by the Children's Media Research and Reform Lab, ensuring they meet the highest standards that parents demand and children deserve.
