Brian Ballantine has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Brian began their career at Antenna Software as a Software Developer and worked there from January 2000 to January 2002. Brian then joined Flightpath as a Software Developer, where they contributed to the development of the UJF FedWeb CMS and the New Yorker Cartoon Bank commerce site using .NET.
In 2005, Brian joined IgoUgo as a Software Developer, working on web development in C#.NET. Their role involved building tools to facilitate traveler experiences sharing and advertisers' customer acquisition.
From 2006 to 2010, Brian worked at Bug Labs, Inc as a Senior Software Engineer. Their responsibilities included web development in Ruby on Rails, as well as mobile and desktop software development in Java and SWT. The company focused on creating tools for the maker community to innovate and solve problems.
In 2010, Brian worked as a Freelance Software Engineer, concentrating on web and mobile projects in New York City. Brian utilized Python and Java to create web software with a particular emphasis on mobile front-ends.
From 2010 to 2015, Brian joined Gilt Groupe as a Lead Software Engineer. Brian played a key role in Gilt Mobile Web, Gilt Taste, and Gilt Personalization and Relevance projects, using Java, Scala, JavaScript, and Postgres.
Brian then joined Workframe in 2015, where they held various positions. Brian started as a Lead Software Engineer, contributing to the development of a dynamic office design search and collaboration tool using Elasticsearch and Clojure. Later, they became the Director of Engineering Data, leading a small team to build Clojure software solutions for commercial real-estate professionals.
Since 2018, Brian has been working at Earnest Research, initially as a Principal Engineer and currently as an Engineering Director.
Brian Ballantine graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering in 1999.
