Daniel Morris

Vice President, Internal Audit at Easterly Government Properties

Daniel Morris is the Vice President of Internal Audit at Easterly Government Properties. Prior to their current role, they served as the Director of Operations at NVR Mortgage from April 2011 to April 2015.

During their time at NVR Mortgage, Morris was responsible for leading the company through significant strategic, organizational, cultural, and technology changes. Daniel established a new Operations Department, which included business analysts, employees staffing the Employee Help Desk, and a trainer to provide management and employee support. Major accomplishments during their time at NVR Mortgage include transitioning the company to a paperless environment and implementing a new Help Desk telephone routing system to better account for more than 27,000 calls per year.

Under Morris's leadership, a team of business analysts and IT employees successfully implemented and trained employees on new systems to support business objectives. These systems included a new loan origination system (Encompass), transition to a paperless work process (DocVelocity), and various other platforms to improve efficiency.

In addition, Morris established standards and metrics to assess compliance with federal (AML, BSA, FCRA, RESPA, etc.), state, program and investor requirements. Daniel oversaw periodic compliance audits of operational divisions and reported results to senior management. Based on empirical data, they suggested adaptations to operational risk assessment tools, policies or procedures as needed.

Daniel Morris has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University - Babcock Graduate School of Management. Daniel is also certified by the Virginia State Board of Accountancy as a Certified Public Accountant, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners as a Certified Fraud Examiner, the New York State Board for Public Accountancy as a Certified Public Accountant, and Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional. Additionally, they have a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification from Eastman Kodak Company.
