Emily Pierce

Director, Sustainability at Easterly Government Properties

Ms. Pierce serves as Director of Sustainability at Easterly Government Properties.

Ms. Pierce is responsible for the firm’s sustainability initiatives, including environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting, sustainability goal setting, benchmarking, energy efficiency management, and tenant sustainability engagement.

Prior to joining Easterly, Ms. Pierce was director on the Urban Land Institute’s Greenprint Center for Building Performance and helped grow the program to a ten-year membership high. While at ULI she also built out the Tenant Energy Optimization Program, which promotes energy efficiency in leased space fit-outs. Ms. Pierce has a decade of ESG experience including roles focused on commercial real estate, environmental education, carbon mitigation research, and non-profit development. While at the Institute for Market Transformation, Ms. Pierce led the Department of Energy sponsored nationwide real estate broker sustainability education course, landlord-tenant engagement program, and green leasing initiatives. Working to promote ESG across real estate, she has worked closely with tenants, owners, brokers, and NGOs helping to outline how sustainability can be ingrained in existing internal strategy. Ms. Pierce started her career working in environmental education, energy efficiency advocacy, and nonprofit fundraising.

Ms. Pierce is a LEED Green Associate and a Fitwel Ambassador. She holds an MPA in Environmental Science and Public Policy from George Mason University and a BA from Elon University.
