CEO at easyJet

Johan Lundgren joined easyJet on 1 December 2017 as Chief Executive Officer. Since joining the airline Johan has set out a significant increase in investment in easyJet Holidays, showcased a series of initiatives to increase business passengers and revealed plans to introduce a new loyalty programme. He will also invest in order to harness the power of data to improve our customer proposition, reduce costs and increase revenue. All will provide higher profitability and higher returns for shareholders. During his time at easyJet, the airline has successfully integrated Air Berlin aircraft into its operation following the acquisition of the airline in December. Johan also has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to increase the proportion of female pilots with a target of 20% of new entrant pilots by 2020.

Johan has more than 30 years’ experience in the travel industry and spent his career working his way up through various organisations to become most recently the Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer of TUI AG and Chief Executive Officer of Mainstream Tourism at TUI AG.

Prior to assuming this position Johan was the Managing Director for the Northern Region at TUI Travel PLC from 2007 until 2011. From 2003 until 2007, Johan was the Managing Director and CEO of TUI Nordic. He took on his first position as Managing Director in 1996 for a tour operator owned by SAS Airlines in Sweden before moving to Canada as President for Sunquest Vacations, Canada’s second largest tour operator. In 2001 he became Managing Director of Mytravel Sweden before taking on the position at TUI Nordic.

Johan studied Music in Sweden, the UK and USA from 1982 until 1985. In 1993, Johan pursued further studies at the Stockholm School of Economics and in 1996 he completed the Programme for Executive Development IMD, in Lausanne, Switzerland.
