Derek Le has worked in various roles in the video editing and software engineering industries since 2016. In 2017, they began working as a Peer Tutor at The University of Texas at Dallas, where they advised critical insight and applied technical knowledge to other students' projects, taught software application, and assisted students and departmental staff on technical software application and troubleshooting. That same year, they also began working as a Rotoscoping Artist at Groove Jones. From 2017-2019, they worked as a Video Editor at Media Distribution Solutions, where they edited multi-camera interview-style educational medical videos with a quick turnaround time, communicated and coordinated solutions to problems encountered during the project, and created motion graphic montages for additional clients. In 2019, they also began working as a Video Editor at Spectrio. In 2020, they began working as a Video Editor at Flatiron School and Flocksy. Finally, in 2021, they became a Student Software Engineer at Flatiron School and, in 2022, they began working as a Junior Frontend Developer at eBacon.

Derek Le attended Johnson County Community College from 2012 to 2013, where they obtained a High School degree in Animation and Game Design. Derek then attended Collin College from 2014 to 2015, though they did not obtain a degree. In 2015, Derek Le received a Bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Dallas in Arts and Technology. Most recently, in 2021, Derek Le enrolled in the Flatiron School for Software Engineering.
