Ece U.

Ece U. is a predoctoral fellow at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) since September 2023. Prior experience includes serving as an undergraduate student researcher at Sabanci University from September 2021 to August 2023, where Ece contributed to projects on protein-ligand interaction sites, protein modeling using AlphaFold2 and Robetta, and cell culture maintenance at Mustafaoğlu Lab. Internships include a research position at the Iqbal Group at EMBL-EBI focusing on computational studies of bacterial genomes, a validation department internship at Novartis Türkiye, and a role at Epigenetiks Genetik Biyoinformatik Yazılım A.Ş., where Ece wrote Python scripts for text mining and developed a mutation effect predictor for ALS. Ece's early research involved investigating protein expression in brain endothelial cells and serving as a learning assistant for a Calculus I course. Ece U. is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Cambridge from 2023 to 2027, having completed an undergraduate degree at Sabanci University from 2018 to 2023 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma at Princess Anne High School.
