Y'Anad D. Burrell

Y'Anad D. Burrell, MPA/MHA, is an experienced community development consultant and strategic leader based in Oakland, California. Serving as a Community Development Consultant for WORD Assembly Community Development since February 2019, Y'Anad also holds a board member position and chair role for the Government Relations Committee at the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. Y'Anad's prior roles include Chief Executive Officer at Youth UpRising and Interim Executive Director at Project Re-Connect, along with various advisory and leadership positions in behavioral health and mental health advocacy for Contra Costa County. Y'Anad has a strong background in communications as Chief Communications and Public Affairs Strategist at Glass House Public Relations and as a freelance journalist. With an academic foundation that includes two Master's degrees from Golden Gate University, a Paralegal Certificate, and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from San Francisco State University, Y'Anad has contributed significantly to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives throughout the Bay Area while sharing expertise through educational roles and public service engagements.
