Derek Bowler

Derek Bowler serves as the Head of Social Newsgathering at the European Broadcasting Union since January 2017, where responsibilities include leading a global team focused on UGC discovery, verification, and clearance, as well as sourcing newsworthy eyewitness media. Prior to this role, Derek held positions at Storyful from June 2013 to December 2016, serving as Senior Journalist & News Projects Lead, where project management and workflow innovation were central, and as a Journalist, delivering content and ensuring compliance for major media organizations. Derek holds a BA Hons in Journalism & New Media from the University of Limerick and completed an Erasmus Exchange in Broadcast Journalism at Eötvös Loránd University.
