Head Of Strategic Events at EBU

Francesca Matera has a diverse work experience in the media industry. Francesca currently holds the position of Head of Strategic Events at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which they started in 2023. Prior to this, they worked at the European Broadcasting Union from 2013 to 2023, where they served as the External Relations and Events Manager and the News Events Producer. In these roles, they were responsible for managing and coordinating various events, overseeing live events and content for news services, and handling press facilities and supplier contracts.

Before joining the European Broadcasting Union, Matera worked at RSI Radiotelevisione Svizzera (Swiss TV) as a Journalist from 2008 to 2013. Francesca'sresponsibilities included collecting and publishing news content in various formats. Francesca also worked at Caritas Internationalis as a Communication Officer in 2012, where they led the brand strategy and executed publicity and advertising campaigns. Additionally, Matera worked at the BBC as a Broadcast journalist and media coordinator from 2005 to 2008, and at Reef Television as a TV Researcher in 2005.

Francesca Matera's education history includes a recent short course in Marketing Strategy in the Digital Age at IMD in 2021. In 2007-2008, they pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Journalism at NCTJ. Prior to that, from 2003-2005, they completed a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Multimedia at The University of Edinburgh. Lastly, from 1999-2003, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) degree in Communication from London Metropolitan University.
