Karima Rafes

Karima Rafes has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Karima currently works as a Senior Linked Data expert at eccenca GmbH since November 2021. Prior to this, they served as the CEO of BorderCloud, a company focused on preparing for the advent of the Semantic Web and developing tools for data utilization. Karima joined BorderCloud in July 2010 and held the role until the present.

Karima also worked as a Linked Data Expert at Inria from January 2014 to August 2015. Karima gained experience as an Independent Expert/Evaluator in the Seventh Research Framework Programme (FP7) at the European Commission from February 2013 to June 2014.

Before that, Karima was an Engineer of research at Orange Labs from July 2008 to July 2010. Karima also held the position of Multimedia architect at France Telecom R&D from June 2006 to July 2008.

Karima started their career at Quadrille Ingenierie, where they worked as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer at GlobeCast from January 2006 to May 2006. Karima also served as an IP broadcast services and Video Engineer and Consultant at France Telecom R&D from February 2005 to January 2006.

Karima gained early experience as a Trainee Engineer at Thomson Corporate Research from March 2004 to September 2004. Karima also worked as a Cdp at Canal Numédia in 2000-2001.

Throughout their career, Karima Rafes has accumulated extensive expertise in Linked Data, Semantic Web, research evaluation, software quality assurance, and multimedia architecture.

Karima Rafes has an extensive education history in the field of computer science and information technology. Karima obtained a Research Doctorate in Networks, Information and Communication from Université Paris-Saclay, which they pursued from 2014 to 2019. Prior to that, they earned an Engineering degree in Content engineering, Internet, TV/IP from the IAAI (Institute for Advanced Applications of the Internet) between 2002 and 2004. Karima also holds a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science from the University of Montpellier Science, which they completed in 2002. Karima'seducational journey began with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Computer Science from the University of Nancy Science in 1998-1999. In addition to their academic degrees, Karima Rafes has obtained the certification of "Qualification: maître de conférences en informatique" from CNU 27 in January 2020.
