Jonathan Klapel has worked in a variety of roles in the technology and media industries. From 2008 to 2011, they were the Founder & Lead Web Developer at Klapford Media, designing, developing, and hosting multiple websites on WordPress and Drupal. In 2011, they took on the role of Special Projects Manager at Companis Mission Workers, performing website redesigns, email migrations, database setup, and computer and network updates. From 2008 to 2014, they were the Web/IT Assistant at KNKX Public Radio, responsible for redesigning and maintaining KPLU.org and Jazz24. In 2014, they joined Tethers Unlimited Inc. as an Avionics Engineer, where they were a key contributor in the SWIFT SDR project, creating verified and synthesizable VHDL IP cores. Since 2019, they have been a Senior Engineer and then Engineer, FPGA at Echodyne.
Jonathan Klapel has a diverse educational background. Jonathan obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Engineering from Pacific Lutheran University between 2007 and 2011, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in German Language and Literature from the same university during the same period. Jonathan then pursued a Master's degree in Embedded Computing Systems at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau from 2012 to 2013, followed by a Master's degree in Embedded Computing Systems at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from 2013 to 2014. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Dealing Successfully with Intercultural Conflicts from developing culture in December 2012.
