Benjamin Cokelet is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in social entrepreneurship and public service. As the Founder, Executive Director, and President of Empower, LLC since July 2013, Cokelet has dedicated efforts to making a significant impact in the community. In addition to this role, Cokelet has been a Fellow at Echoing Green and Ashoka since 2010, contributing to innovative initiatives. Previously, Cokelet co-founded and served as Co-Executive Director at PODER from October 2008 to December 2019. A former adjunct lecturer at NYU's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, Cokelet has an academic background that includes a Master of Arts in International Business and Politics from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in African and African-American Studies and Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis. Prior professional experience includes serving as a Global Organizer for the Solidarity Center from 2003 to 2008.
