Roar Skålin

President

Roar Skålin is currently the Director General at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute and serves as the Vice-President of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. They held the position of Acting President for the World Meteorological Organization Regional Association VI (Europe) from 2022 to 2023 and have been involved with the World Meteorological Organization as a member of the Executive Council since 2023. With a robust background in applied mathematics, Roar earned a Dr. ing. degree from Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet and an Executive Master of Management from Handelshøyskolen BI, both completed in 1997. Additionally, they have held significant roles in various organizations, including Special Adviser at The Research Council of Norway and Director of Information Technology at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute from 2000 to 2012.
