The world is facing a rapidly growing challenge of land aridity. Today, 40.6% of Earth’s land is classified as permanently dry, an increase of 3% over the past 30 years. In addition, 77.6% of global land has experienced drier conditions during the same period.

Approximately 40% of global arable land is now affected by soil aridity, posing a serious threat to agricultural productivity and global food security.

In this regard,Rainfed agriculture covers over 80% of the world’s agricultural land and produces more than half of global food, yet it remains highly vulnerable to drought and unpredictable rainfall especially in Africa, where over 95% of farming depends on rain.

Ecofrica Innovations,a team of six, two young women and four young men from Africa, Bangladesh and Pakistani, are on a mission to revolutionize the agriculture sector by developing NanoReservoirs to capture and store rainwater directly in the soil and release it gradually with nutrients. This approach improves water retention and enhances nutrient efficiency, creating more stable and resilient farming systems in drought-prone regions.

Our goal is to strengthen rainfed agriculture, improve productivity and support climate resilience farms

Let’s bridge this gap together.
