Michael J. Laws

Michael J. Laws is an accomplished geotechnical and dam safety engineer with extensive experience spanning over two decades. Currently serving as the Principal Dams and Geotechnics at Ecora since March 2015, Michael has previously held the role of Senior Geotechnical & Dam Safety Engineer at Tetra Tech EBA from July 2008 to March 2015. Earlier in their career, Michael worked as a Geotechnical Engineer at Sinclair Knight Merz in Fiji and New Zealand from January 2004 to June 2008, and at Connell Wagner in Auckland, New Zealand from January 2002 to December 2003. Michael's foundational work as a Geotechnical Engineer began at Soil & Rock Consultants Ltd from January 2000 to December 2001. Michael holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from The University of Auckland, completed between 1993 and 1999, and has furthered expertise through advanced courses in Computational Geotechnics.
